I believe that it takes tremendous courage for a person to reach out for counseling.  My work with you will be a partnership. I will bring my clinical knowledge, experience, and compassion, and you will bring your strengths, insight, and readiness to explore.  I will provide a safe, empathic, and informative environment in which you can find healing, seek solutions, and create strategies that will bring about lasting change and fulfillment.

Liz Grow, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor, earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Saint Edward’s University in Austin Texas.

Liz’s areas of counseling expertise include adolescent and adult depression, anxiety, and trauma recovery, with specific focus on relationship issues and “troubled teens”. Liz treats families as well as couples. Additionally, Liz has vast experience working with career related issues including occupational exploration, career and personality assessment, and career transition.

Before entering private practice, Liz worked directly with victims of crime and at-risk youth through Connections Individual and Family Services, as well as served as a Career Counselor at the Texas State University Career Services Department. In addition to seeing clients in private practice, Liz is the school counselor at John Paul II Catholic High School.

I believe that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. I do not adhere to the one-size fits all approach to counseling and, as a result, I tailor each session to fit each client’s individual and unique needs and goals. I also believe that not every counselor can help every client, and therefore, I offer my potential clients free phone consultations so that we can determine whether or not I can best serve your unique needs.  I deeply respect each client’s individuality and choose not to “counsel” clients in the traditional sense, but work in collaboration with them to obtain their specific goals. I am comfortable and have experience working with clients from many different cultures, religions, and lifestyles and I celebrate each individual’s uniqueness, value, and beliefs. I consider my therapeutic style to be eclectic, though I am highly influenced by interpersonal and solution-oriented therapies that seem to have high rates of success with my clients.

Finally, I believe that therapy does not have to take years in order to be successful; on the contrary, I have helped to facilitate many successful changes in the lives of my clients in as little as 4 sessions. However, one must apply themselves fully to therapy and be truly motivated to make changes in order for such success. Therapy requires a commitment to full disclosure, introspection, and dedication to the process.

Above all, I consider it a great honor to be able to practice in my hometown, and I look forward to serving my community throughout my career. I love my work, consider it a privilege to use my abilities to help others make changes to lead happier, more fulfilling lives, and am committed to excelling in the field of psychotherapy.
