CTPC would like you to get the most out of your time and money, and for this reason, our appointments are based on 60 minute sessions as opposed to 45 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged if the client feels it necessary, and the counselor agrees that it is therapeutically appropriate.

Why don’t CTPC associates accept insurance?

We feel that insurance plans are making it more and more difficult to provide quality ethical care to our clients. Health insurance companies restrict the number of sessions that a client can receive, thus truncating our therapeutic work and taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Further, health insurance companies require that therapists give a client an official DSM diagnosis. This means that even if your issues have nothing to do with a diagnosable mental disorder, we, the therapists, must diagnose you with a mental disorder nonetheless. Moreover, a mental health disorder diagnosis will remain in your permanent health record, and some clients do not feel comfortable being “labeled” for the rest of their lives.
